Why people call us

Most small-business websites fail the same three ways.

None of them are about how it looks. That’s the bit everyone fixes first, and it’s rarely the problem.

One

It doesn’t say what you do

Somebody lands on it and still can’t tell what you sell, where you are, or what it costs. They go back to Google and ring whoever answers that.

Two

Nobody can find it

No titles, no descriptions, slow on a phone. It exists, but only for people who already know your name — which is the people you didn’t need to convince.

Three

You can’t change it

Prices moved in April. The site still says January’s. Whoever built it has stopped answering, or charges £90 to change a line.

What you get

A finished website, not a starting point.

Every build covers all of it. You are not handed a half-built template and a login.

A design built round your trade

A joiner needs photographs of finished work. A clinic needs to look safe. A café needs today’s hours above the fold. We lay it out for the thing you actually sell.

Words that do a job

We write it. Not filler text, not “welcome to our website” — the actual sentences that answer what people ring up and ask you.

Photos sorted

Send us what you’ve got and we’ll make it work. Nothing usable? We’ll license proper stock that suits the trade rather than leaving grey boxes.

Set up to be found

Page titles, descriptions, a sitemap and fast mobile pages, done on the way out. Not sold back to you afterwards as an SEO package.

The technical bit, done

Domain pointed, certificate installed, hosting live, forms tested. You don’t touch a DNS record and nobody says the word “nameserver” to you.

Yours to edit afterwards

It hands over into the Blinki editor. Change a price, swap a photo, add a page — without booking us or waiting until Tuesday.

How it works

You see it built before you pay a penny.

The demo comes first. Only if you like it do we quote, take a deposit and start the real build. Once the deposit is in, a small site is about a fortnight to live — bigger builds take longer, and you get the date with the price.

Costs you nothing

The call and the demo

  1. A phone callTwenty minutes on the phone. What you do, who buys it, and what has worked before.
  2. We build a free demoA real page you can click, not a mockup. Got a site already? We rebuild your homepage.
  3. We walk you through itOn a call, on your screen. You tell us what is right and what needs changing.

Quote, deposit, build

  1. We quote the jobA figure and a date in writing, for the site you have just seen. No surprises later.
  2. You pay the depositThat books your slot in the studio, and the real build starts that week.
  3. We build itEvery page written, laid out and photographed. One round of changes on the draft.

The Blinki studio in York
Who builds it

A studio in York.

Not a queue in a spreadsheet. The person who takes your brief is the person who builds the thing — no account manager relaying messages, no overnight handover to a team you will never speak to.

  • UK designers and writers — nothing sent offshore
  • One phone number, answered by the people doing the work
  • Cyber Essentials certified and ICO registered
  • Often the founder on the other end of the phone

What it costs

Priced per project, said out loud.

Every job is a different size, so every quote is different. Here is the honest shape of it — and no discovery invoice before anybody draws anything.

Small

A few pages, kept simple

from £499

A handful of pages for a business that mainly needs to be findable, credible and easy to ring. You have most of the words and photos already.

Where most land

The usual small-business site

£2,500–£3,500

Once you count the pages, the copywriting, the photography and the setup, this is where a proper build lands. It’s the honest middle, not a starting figure designed to look cheap.

Bigger

Shops, bookings, integrations

quoted

Selling online, taking appointments, or anything that has to talk to a system you already run. Priced properly once we know what it has to do.

What moves the price

  • How many pages it needs
  • Whether we write the copy or you have it
  • Whether you need photography sorting
  • Whether you’re selling online
  • Bookings, payments, or anything that has to talk to another system

What never changes

  • You get the number in writing before anything starts
  • No day rates and no discovery invoice
  • One round of changes is in every quote
  • The domain and the site are yours, whatever you spend

Spreading it: Blinki Flex puts whatever the figure is on a fixed monthly payment over 12–48 months with a 10% deposit — so the monthly follows the total, from about £18/mo on the smallest builds. UK limited companies, soft credit check on the company. See how Flex works →

No risk

Not sure? We’ll redesign your homepage first. Free.

Send us the site you’ve got. We’ll rebuild the homepage around how your customers actually buy and send it back as a real, working page. Like it, we build the rest. Don’t, keep it anyway — it costs you nothing either way.

Fair questions

The things people ask.

What does a website actually cost?
Small sites start at £499. Most small-business builds land between £2,500 and £3,500 once you count the pages, the copywriting, the photography and the setup. Shops and anything with bookings or integrations are quoted on what they have to do. You get the figure in writing before anything starts.
Why not just publish a price list?
Because a five-page site for a joiner and a twenty-page site with a shop and a booking system are not the same job, and pretending they are is how people end up with a surprise invoice. We tell you the number up front instead - usually the same working day you get in touch.
How long does it take?
A small site goes brief to live in about a fortnight - day 0 we talk, day 7 you see a draft with real words and photos, day 14 it goes live. Bigger builds take longer, and you get the date with the price rather than after you've committed.
What do you actually need from me?
Twenty minutes on the phone, and whatever photos and prices you already have. That's it. We write the words, so you don't need to sit down and draft an "About us".
Can I change it myself afterwards?
Yes. It hands over into the Blinki editor, so you can change prices, swap photos and add pages without ringing us. If you'd rather we kept doing it, there's an optional care plan.
What if I don't like the design?
That's what the day 7 draft is for - you comment on it and one round of changes is in every quote. And if you want to see how we work before committing anything, take the free homepage redesign first: you keep it whatever you decide.
Do I own the site and the domain?
Yes. The domain is registered in your name, not ours, and the site is yours. If you ever leave, you leave with it - no "cancel and we keep the website".
Can I spread the cost?
Yes - Blinki Flex puts the build on a fixed monthly payment over 12 to 48 months with a 10% deposit, so the monthly figure follows the total rather than being a fixed price. It's for UK limited companies and involves a soft credit check on the company, not on you personally.

Tell us about the business.
We’ll do the website.
